Extended Hours

The Practice operates an extended session one evening per week 18:30 to 20:15, Monday - Friday, but the evening can vary; please consult with reception staff if you require a late night appointment.  

GP Alliance Hubs

When the surgery is closed patients registered with the Practice have other alternative ways of seeking medical attention, for example, through the Wigan GP Alliance Service;  the GP Alliance Hubs are managed by local GPs (though not necessarily your own GP) and are open Wednesday afternoon 13:00 to 18:30, Monday to Friday 18:30 to 20:00 and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 to 16:00 and are operated on a pre-bookable appointment basis (please note appointment booking line is open 09:30 until 19:15 weekdays and 09:30 to 15:15 at weekends).

When We Are Closed

If you require medical advice whilst surgery is closed telephone the surgery on 01942 807600 to gain details of out of hour cover or ring NHS 111 Call Centre by dialling the numbers 111 on your telephone handset to gain medical advice/guidance. 

You can also ring 01942 482848 to ask for a pre-bookable appointment at one of the Wigan GP Alliance Hubs.  The GP Alliance Hubs are managed by local GPs (though not necessarily your own GP) and are open Wednesday afternoon 13.00 to 18.30 hrs and Monday to Friday 18:30 to 20:00 and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 to 16:00 (please note appointment booking line is open 10:00 until 19:15 weekdays and 09:30 to 15:15 at weekends). This Service is funded by your own GP and you should feel free to use it.

The Wigan GP Alliance Hubs are based at various sites across the Wigan Borough; full postal address details/directions on how to get to the Hub of your choice will be given to you by the appointment booking personnel at the time of making your appointment. 

NHS 111 Online

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.

Walk-in Centre

Leigh NHS Walk-In-Centre  offers fast and convenient access to advice, information and treatment by experienced nurses. The centre offers treatment for minor illnesses and injuries including:

  • Sore throats or flu-like symptoms
  • Infections or rashes
  • Viral illnesses
  • Minor burns, cuts or wounds
  • Fractures, sprains and x-rays of upper/lower limbs
  • Eye problems
  • Minor head injuries

The Walk-In-Centre is provided by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust and is designed to complement hospital and GP services. The centre is open between 7am and 9pm, 365 days a year. A & E Departments, NHS 111 and the Practice Out-of-hours service are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor via one of these Services and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
